Development of F and B industry

Technological development is also a major impetus in the increase in the number of eating outlets across India

There has been a rapid increase in the number of cafes and fine-dine restaurants during the last couple of years. Earlier dining out was an unusual thing but now people prefer to eat out more frequently.

According to me the development in F&B industry can be attributed to a change in eating-out habits of Indians, increase in disposable income, changing lifestyles, working couples (do not get time to cook at home, thereby go out) and  coming up of many national and international food brands.

Popularity of the franchise concept is another important factor. Entrepreneurs are seen favouring franchise over independent businesses. They prefer to invest in franchised eating joints rather than opening independent fast food centres. The franchise way of operating business is preferred due to less of risk involved in franchise as compared to an independent business. The training and support provided by the franchisors also is an appealing factor. That is why we can see a number of Pizza Huts, KFC’s, Subway’s, Café Coffee Day’s etc being opened in every city, town and locality.

Technological development is also a major impetus in the increase in the number of eating outlets across India. Undoubtedly the technological advancement has increased the preferences of people on eating at renowned outlets.  Getting your favourite pizza delivered at your doorstep is just a phone call away. This is one of a few reasons how technology has helped in the F&B segment.
